Aloft Palm Jumeriah is one of the hidden gems of Dubai, bringing a vibrant, fun-filled atmosphere to what at times can be a rather stifling destination.

The 208-room property is perched on the far end of the east crescent of the palm, offering colourful décor and a vibrant energy that can be hard to find elsewhere.

With the Arabian sea stretching out to the horizon, a fabulous view over some of the most famous landmarks in the world, not to mention a great pool, it is a wonderful place to spend a couple of days.

Right from the get-go its obvious this an exhilarating place to visit.

Reception is buzzing as I arrive, with a mixture of families spending some quality time together and couples looking to enjoy a drink by the pool.

Check-in is quick and efficient, and I am upstairs in a jiffy.

The rooms are designed for hyper-connected, global travellers, with lightning-fast Wi-Fi paired with airy nine-foot-high ceilings and mesmerising views over the gulf.

The loft-inspired guestrooms were nearly all snapped up during my visit, so I was lucky to grab some great views over the ocean through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

On hand in each room are an ultra-comfortable signature bed, walk-in shower and custom amenities by Bliss Spa and more.

Guests can also take advantage of a Chromecast connectivity station, which charges all their electronics and links to the 48” LCD TV in order to maximize work and play.

“Aloft Hotels are modern, tech-forward and design-focused, and allow value-conscious savvy travellers to stay connected, network openly, and relax in style,” said Mohamed El Aghoury, general manager at Aloft Palm Jumeirah.

“The offering is unique to the Palm Jumeirah and brings a contemporary and independent vibe to the destination.”

The hotel is home to six dining and social spaces, which includes East & Seaboard Restaurant – the all-day dining venue.

Full-board guests can enjoy their meals here, with a fresh, varied and delicious menu served up each day.

The space is child-friendly, but also spacious enough to offer guests looking for a little privacy some time to themselves.

On the top floor there is a unique Mexican-themed cantina and cocktail lounge, Luchador, which hosts eclectic live events to entertain visitors from its expansive rooftop location.

The restaurant offers an exciting way of dining, combining a buzzing social scene, great food, drinks and entertainment.

A live flute player was entertaining crowds during my visit, which is certainly not something you see every day, as was being well-received by the two dozen or so guests there to enjoy it.

Back on the ground-floor, visitors mix and mingle over the hottest music at the signature W XYZ bar and soak up the sun at the outdoor splash pool.

While there is certainly not shortage of competitors on the famous man-made island, Aloft Palm Jumeriah more than holds its own in illustrious company.

The hotel delivers a distinct lifestyle experience to the iconic landmark with its tech-forward approach, vibrant social experiences and modern style that is different by design.

This is also a surprisingly affordable opportunity, offering the best of the Palm Jumeriah to those who might be on a little bit of a tighter budget – highly recommended.

Breaking Travel News chats with Mohamed El Aghoury, cluster general manager at Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort and Aloft Palm Jumeirah, about the properties, the recovery of Dubai from the Covid-19 pandemic and the possibilities offered by Expo 2020:
